Venuestar Review A popular backpacker pub, with a downstairs bottle shop thrown in. Right next to Flinders Street Station it's worth a look for something different. Large, bright, and extremely casual, with stacks of seating and popular pool tables and video games.
The Joint is one of the main city backpacker venues, and worth checking out to meet fellow travellers. The best place to go late at night, but lately on the weekends it's hard to get in after 2am as there is a line right around the block, so get in a bit earlier... Got a huge balcony to suck back beers on a hot day, karaoke on sunday night, wednesdays are also a good night for backpackers and students as it's two for one jugs of beer or bottles of wine and a free BBQ on the balcony at around 9pm. Readers' Reviews I had the best nine months of my life in Melbourne and to be honest most of it was spent in this place, cool staff (me included at times) relaxed atmosphere and always something going on!!! Ohhh many a morning spent in there til 7.30am or even later!!! lol the best time ever and i have photos to prove it. Definately a must see if you are in the area... Jo, USA, 05/07 This place is awsome. One of the friendliest places you'll find in Melbourne. It's open EVERY night until 7am. It's the place everyone goes after everything else closes at 1am-3am. During the week early on in the night it can be a bit quiet but if you can stick it out until the wee hours of the morning it usually picks up.
Weekends are busy. All night. But even busier after the 'normal' clubs close.
They have a video juke-box (controlled by the awsome bar staff) that plays absolutely EVERYTHING.
