Really relaxed place to hang watch the footy, have a punt and a "few" pots of course. Chris Mitchell, East Brighton, 07/10 The McKinnon hotel has the best of both worlds, 1) the front bar is double sided and 20 odd meters long. Its traditional old school with sports the regulars and tradies on Fridays. A good spot for watching the football if you can't go to a game. There are 5 big screens. Counter meals are a bit cheaper than the bistro some specials are a bargain like burger, salad chips and a pot for $8! 2) The completely separate bistro has a very different family atmosphere. The bistro has a switched on menu and a true specials board that reflects whats in season and good to eat right now. Families out for tea or small birthdays etc are the typical patrons. There is another self contained bar area for functions called Sammy's, the management are very flexible wrt to arrangements. After changing hands a couple of years ago the young team who now run the McKinnon hotel lend it a friendly and helpful atmosphere. Cal's makes an excellent cocktail says my wife:) Its got good on site parking too. Ben, Ormond, 07/09

Readers' Reviews Now under new ownership and management it is one of the friendliest places to visit with children for dinner in the bistro or to just relax with mates in one of the longest bars in Australia. The country styled hospitality with urban surroundings has really captured our spare time and we'll be seen regularly at the 'Mac' Kelvin, Bentleigh, 09/08 We tried the McKinnon Hotel for the first time since moving into the area almost 2 years ago. Overall we were very happy with both the atmosphere (very typical 'pub bistro') and service. However what stood out was the food - fantastic! We would highly recommend the McKinnon hotel for anyone looking for up market meal (at pub prices!) and will certainly be back again soon! Patty, McKinnon, 08/08
