Venuestar Review Nestled among the plentiful eateries and shops in Brunswick Street, is this welcoming gem of a bar. The cosy ground floor is supplemented by more space to drink and chat upstairs. In winter red wine in front of the open fireplace downstairs is highly recommended.
While patronage is considerably less early in the week, Bar Open attracts a lot of people, especially due to its late opening hours. Outdoor Area / Beer Garden A pure Fitzroy style beer garden awaits. Many would call it the best party in town. Live Music Venue It's a music venue at heart, and live bands feature upstairs most nights. Julie Whiting Second Opinion One of the better original bars in Fitzroy, and still popular. We couldn't work out what was better: the dim, intimate downstairs, or the lounge gone wrong band room upstairs where people enjoy sitting on the floor more than on a couch?
And why does the band corner look so cool, so empty, once the band has departed? And how does the doorman know you'll go around the block and probably come back later on? Everything just feels so right in here. Miss it and you miss an integral part of Fitzroy. Mark Davies

Readers' Reviews If you want to chill-out and have a conversation while meeting new people getting a bit funky and generally loving life. you're in luck! Bar open is the perfect place to become a regular is you don't want to cause your back account too much damage and enjoy the company of others. The weekends are a bit wild from time to time but it just gets you in the mood to be social with out bursting you ear drums. Jesse, Clifton Hill, 09/10 This place was great. To be honest, I wasn't expecting all that much, coz I'm not really a Brunswick Street kinda person, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's cosy and everyone's friendly. There's a band upstairs, and a quieter downstairs area where there's heaps of couches and chairs. Bar Open is a really good place to meet up with friends and have a few drinks, coz you can actually hear the conversation there! Definitely worth a visit, even if you're not a Brunswick Street type.
