Venuestar Review Housed on the ground floor of the highly regarded boutique hotel Sebel, is this beautifully restored heritage space which does justice to its origins as the original Bank of Australasia.
Huge ceilings, detailed cornices, grand staircases, balconies and elaborate fittings set the scene for a great place for after work drinks and functions of any scale. Readers' Reviews Treasury is easy to miss, many assume it is just another big old bank building down the financial end of Collins St, but step inside and you will be pleasantly surprised. Walk through the huge brass doors of Treasury and you instantly feel your eyes wander upwards to the high ceilings where gold leaf adorns the pillars and cornices. This unique venue somehow manages to successfully fall under so many categories from fine dining restaurant, bistro, events venue, wedding reception venue and not to mention bar. Friday nights seem to attract those keen to welcome in the weekend but there is great drink specials to be had every week night from 5.30pm - including imported tap beers! For those having a few after work, great bistro food is available - try the platter with dips, spring rolls and antipasto. Claire, St Kilda, 10/06
