Venuestar Review Capitalising like many other venues, on the fact that the decor nan used to have in her bedsit is now fashionable - Prudence does shabby chic very well indeed. The young and funky crowd like it too, with its dim lighting, board games (perhaps not a good combination if you forgot your contacts) and moderate level of music.
The front room has beaded curtains and a counter that faces the street, and leads back to quaint little bar. The narrow staircase beyond that takes you to a small room fit for one group looking for privacy (and nearby loos). We think that in a part of the city whose nightlife is dominated by pubs, Prudence is a breath of fresh air. It really is a hidden treasure and that's how the regulars would like to keep it. Great cocktails, local, imported and micro brewery on tap, great bar food, old records belting out hendrix and good chat and service. look no further. Its a funky mix of Amsterdam and Melbourne.......................... Christo, Footscray, 04/10 Great little bar - unpretentious crowd and reasonably priced drinks ($7 cocktails!!). This little gem has an outdoor beer garden (heated & enclosed during winter) and has little rooms and booths scattered throughout both levels to cater for all groups coming through the door. Only word of advice: don't get too tanked on the cheap drinks, the toilets are up a steep flight of stairs! Overall though, highly recommended to those looking for a good night!
