Venuestar Review

Hidden in the basement of the Prince of Wales Hotel, Mink is the perfect venue in which to chillout on Melbourne's steamy summer nights. Being underground means that Mink will keep its cool regardless of the temperature outside. Having said that, the alcove seating areas, mood lighting and mural style art works adorning the walls ensure that the atmosphere at Mink remains cosy.

The music is funky, but for listening pleasure only as there is no dancefloor. Ample seating across two rooms makes Mink the ideal venue to catch up with friends for a drink and a bite to eat.

Second Opinion

Part of the iconic Prince of Wales complex, this decadent bar has Russian themed decor, a vast selection of cigars, an array of infused vodkas and some cocktails exclusive to Mink. The handful of private booths off the main room allow guests to curtain themsleves off and indulge in table service for these and other drinkables.

The younger weekend crowd enjoys throbbing dance music, while on weekdays a more mature mob soaks up Mink's ambience.

Readers' Reviews

Mink is a gem that is very underrated. The security staff are friendly, the thing that I like the most about this place is the space itself. It's underground and has a bit of a bunker vibe, but a classy bunker. The decor is one-of-a-kind.
I'm a massive fan of house music and they have a whole host of DJs coming through the venue that really suite the vibe. Sunday night is the best for house but the other nights are pretty cool too.

Mink is a basement bar with a dark and intimate interior that's a maze of lounge room and booths lined with Soviet artwork. The main bar is crammed with gigantic vodka fridges and in the main room, along with the long old drinking tables, is a ceiling shield of the Russian hammer & sickle.

The music was impressive and different. Unlike the usual 'chillout' or 'house', its DJs pumped out cool worldly mixes of funk and underground disco.

Even though our drinks took some time, it was nice to have friendly cocktail waitresses fetch them for us - neat!
