Venuestar Review No pub crawls, no chatting on the mobile, no shots or energy drinks - the Standard has a few rules and regulations of this kind for punters to adhere to. Don't be alarmed though, as management's efforts to maintain a civilised environment has struck a chord with many (especially the residential neighbours) and the Standard is a popular watering hole. The good menu, cosy environment and great beer garden might have something to do with it.
Scoring a table is sometimes difficult, especially on those balmy evenings just made for drinking outdoors.
A word on the Carlton Draught here. It's good, very good - possibly one of the best in Melbourne. Outdoor Area / Beer Garden The beer garden here is an real drawcard, and also has an outside bar when the weather justifies it. The seating accommodates 120 people in 3 separate outdoor sections, equipped with leafy shade and lush foliage. An urban oasis. Live Music Venue Live music, but only a couple of nights per week, so best to phone ahead. Julie Whiting

Readers' Reviews Cool pub which can be a bit hard to find if you aren't a local. The outdoor beer garden (is more like someones backyard than a beergarden) is perfect for a cold afternoon beer and parmagiana on a hot January arvo. The relaxed feel creates a great vibe. Michael, Howrah, 04/07
