Venuestar Review A delightfully retro establishment with plush lounges, dim lighting and an old school feel. Those cosy orange lampshades create a glow in the room and in your heart. Named after a form of meditation that creates a natural high in people, Softbelly adds a touch of Brunswick Street to the city. Mark Davies

Readers' Reviews Open from early to late for those after a lazy drink have a choice of local and imported beer, spirits and a wine list suited to most tastes.
An hour spent here is the ultimate tonic to the mid-week blues. On Friday, all hell breaks loose as office workers and students mingle. With a DJ providing funky house background music, the bar is ideal for those wanting to enjoy themselves in a casual environment without feeling they have to dance, and pulls a crowd which gets away from the Friday night city sleaze-fest.
Softbelly is a delightfully retro establishment and is the ideal place to hang out, with plush lounges and funky house. The lights are dimmed late at night to create a warm atmosphere where you can talk to friends or just soak up the funky music being played.
Sit at the long bar and chat to the staff or take up one of the many lounges throughout the venue. And if you really like the place take it all for free for your own private function or if just a few of you then have the privacy of the back bar just for you.
