Venuestar Review Bright TAB pub that also does well with its separate bistro area. The Royal Oak's largest space is taken up by the many chairs and tables that make up the sports area. A large screen TV shows events, and a small TAB area provides betting facilities. What got us most excited was the bistro's nightly specials, offering all sorts of deals such as a steak special or a parma and pot deal. Definitely worth a look at for a cheap feed. Simon Woodhouse

Readers' Reviews Simon Woodhouse's review is pretty much spot on, apart from where he says that the largest area is the sports bar. This couldn't be further from the truth. The largest area is the pokies area, which takes up the whole right hand side (maybe 45%?) of the public area of the pub. The Royal Oak is still a very good pub for food and for a drink, but it's a classic example of a truly great pub gone nondescript after the introduction of poker machines.
