Venuestar Review Close to CBD and occupying a prominent corner, this hotel has been trading as a pub for over 130 years. Purchased by a couple of local publicans in 2008, it has undergone extensive renovation to include a private event space, two dining rooms, three bars and even rooms available for short-term accommodation. The resulting style and ambience reflects its heritage and surroundings: a classic pub with modern hospitality - just what we like.
Drinks at the Baden Powell Hotel are interesting and varied. Beer is a pretty serious business, with several local micro-brewed beers available on tap, served in correct glassware at the right temperature. The international bottled list exceeds fifty, varying in style and region. The wine list is kept lean, focusing on Australasia and Italy's obscure and interesting varietals.
Food wise, management are proud of their Italian-made pizza oven, in which the dough is cooked directly on stone. Outdoor Area / Beer Garden A small outdoor courtyard feels comfortable and cosy. Julie Whiting

Readers' Reviews The Baden Powell has finally reopened. After walking past a million times on the way to work I finally got to pop my head in and check it out. I like the new Baden Powell, it's got a good energy about it, the music and lighting are at the right level and the general feel is pretty good. It kind of still feels like a classic pub with a fresh and modern attitude to its hospitality. It has a few different areas; a front bar for locals, a main dining room with open kitchen, a thin corridor of a room and a big beer garden. The place is large but inviting. A cute fire roars and people seem happy. Jeff, Collingwood, 09/09
