Readers' Reviews Heavens Door is a welcoming dark but cosy environment. It has the dim lighting coming from the bar with T.V screens posting photos from your night in the club. As you enter Heavens Door you are greeted by the first of four dance floors. Moving towards the bar you are fronted by warming smiles and dancing from the very mixed age, gender and easy going clientele. The bar staff are friendly and efficient. Security is also very friendly and mix it with the crowd as to not make anyone feel uneasy or threatened. As you move past the main bar you are greeted by an above ground dance floor come stage for the many great shows performed throughout the night. Moving past the dance/ stage area you can sit and share a Cigarette or have a chat with friends in the designated smoking area. There is also room here for dancing.
Heading back towards the entrance to Heavens Door you can take a walk up the stairs to the smaller and more quiet dance floor or relax on one of the many comfy couches lining the edges of the room. There is a small bar located at the end of the dance floor.
Upstairs is also where you will the neat and tidy bathrooms. The music at Heavens Door is a mixture of 80's, 90's, today and some RnB. The mixture of music makes it hard to keep your feet still!
The crowd is a mixture of all sorts of people, young, old, in between, suits, casual, out there and just plain normal!! But everyone gets along with everyone and there is plenty of dancing, laughter and chatting going on all night long! The venue is gay and lesbian friendly with everyone there for the same thing, to have a drink and loads of fun!! David, South Yarra, 04/09
