Readers' Reviews Urban Bar is located on the ground floor of an enormous backpacker hostel and is full of delightful people from overseas, particularly the U.K. and Europe. It is a long open space full of loungy couches and armchairs, with pool tables and arcade games at one end. Everyone sits around in large groups, chatting and drinking and having a great time. They're all there to meet people so you can approach anyone and start up a conversation, and they have something going on every night: bands, costume parties, games, or trivia, which seems to be a crowd favourite. The bar staff are known by name, and lots of jokes are passed back and forth which makes the place feel very relaxed and comfortable. It's incredibly cheap, and they're open to the public until 11pm, so it's perfect for pre-drinks! Natalie, Northcote, 08/09
