Venuestar Review Platform One's decorations give a "Bar Buddha" look with a feel somewhere out of an Indiana Jones movie. Luscious carpet, bamboo torches and a pumpin' dancefloor together give Platform One a vibrant, uplifting feel.
Platform One's DJs play house and dance tracks on both Fridays and Saturdays, and take a personal interest in the dancefloor - unlike being on some distant podium.
This is a spot on venue, and hence easily pulls a funky crowd. Saturdays generally have the biggest turnout. The good news for early partygoers is that Platform One isn't empty before midnight - far from it in fact.
Still, if you don't want to get too wild straight away the front bar is a good place to start. Some drinks and comfy couching should soon have you making your way down the hall under the curved, red brick roof to the dancefloor and additional bar out back. When these prime areas fill up the room next door opens.
The crowd is mixed (not super young) but style conscious and the music dancy. Disco balls add a chintzy touch to the otherwise rustic, cavernous nightclub. The club is divided into two sections one where private functions are held but it is open to the general public on busy nights (i.e. Saturdays). The entire venue has a warmth to it. This certainly rubs off on those inside it as the people are unusually friendly! Of course you will always have a couple of silly people, but mostly people are all smiles. The bar is reasonably priced, indeed even entry is reasonably priced for such a plush club. Readers' Reviews Platform One delivers awesome house music with a funky yet oh so friendly crowd which is a combination hard to come upon these days. Although getting in can sometimes be a wait, it's worth it, especially when you're free to explore the venue until the early hours of the morning.
Ellie, Tullamarine, 08/05 Melbourne has longed for a venue like this which has delivered and then some! The atmosphere is really friendly with the main priority being about having a good time.
