Venuestar Review The Local Taphouse has an interior that resembles an old English reading room with dark wooden floors and walls, couches and dark green lamps above the tables, creating a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. The selection of the beers on tap is extensive, varied and caters for every beer lover's taste. Wander upstairs and you will find a courtyard with wooden decking and tables for those that want to be outside by the open fire or under the shade of large umbrellas in the warmer months. This area is perfect for having a quiet chat or meeting other patrons as most of the tables are communal. There is also a bar on the top floor together with a dimly lit dining area. It's a lovely place for a relaxed meal and the menu is reasonably priced and varied ranging from small bar snacks to more substantial main courses. If beer isn't your preference, there is also an excellent wine list. It's certainly one of the best pub/bar/restaurants in the bayside region for a night out, far removed from the masses on Acland Street. Outdoor Area / Beer Garden The upstairs beer garden here is not the largest in town, but has lots of ambience and beer sample paddles for lovers of the sparkling ale. Lush Green

As a beer house it is awesome, an excellent range of beers, and friendly staff. Nice chilled and laid back atmosphere and even an outdoor real fireplace to warm your bones as you have a puff :-)
We had no probs having a good conversation as there are a number of quiet nooks and crannies to sit in.
They staff were attentive and knowledgeable and seemed to like what they do.
